Peace at Last

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

The peace of God is ours. Philippians 4:6 says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

The peace that passes all understanding is ours when we follow God’s pattern: prayer, petition, thanksgiving, and presentation. We come to the throne of Almighty God, present the source of our fears to him, thank him for the many times he has delivered us from evil, and lay our cares at his feet.

When we leave our fears there, at the foot of his throne, his peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Satan must literally get past a line of defenders to destroy our peace. The next time you find yourself fretting, call out the guards!

Katherine Klemp
St. Paul, MN

Father, thank you for the gift of peace, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Reflect: Write a list of times God delivered you in fearful situations.

Read: Ephesians 4:6-8 and John 14:26-28
